Data flow

The diagram below explains the general data flow on SPSP.

Samples are isolated and sequenced. Then, DATA (genomic data, metadata) are transferred from the laboratory to the SPSP servers on BioMedIT using SendCrypt.

On BioMedIT (SENSA node), data are decrypted, cleaned (human reads removal) and quality controlled (metadata) within a regulated environment.

The non-sensitive data are transferred out of BioMedIT for further bioinformatics analyses.

The results can be visualized on the Private and Public Portals of SPSP. Where allowed by the data provider, data are also shared on international public databases.

Results are sent back to BioMedIT, where the SPSP server concatenates this information with additional identifiers and automatically sends encrypted reports to the Federal authorities.
