Data overview

The View data section of the platform provides a visual and tabular overview of all the isolates stored in SPSP. This view allows users to explore and analyze isolate metadata through interactive charts and detailed tables. Users can view data submitted by any laboratory (provided it has undergone bioinformatics processing and did not fail quality assessment).

Navigate to the View data menu item on the left sidebar. The main panel displays a bar chart summarizing isolate data and a table of detailed isolate metadata. On the top, tabs allow direct access to saved Views.

Table of isolates

Located below the chart, the data table provides isolate-level details in a scrollable, paginated format. Click on to adjust the visible columns. You can sort the table by clicking on the field names. In the example below, rows are sorted first by QC, then by Isolation date (in descending order, most recent first).

Note: Some information in the table opens up in a new window (QC details, antimicrobial resistance predictions, virulence predictions, bioinformatics analysis quality reports).

Filter data

Select on the top to define custom filters based on isolate metadata (e.g., species, date ranges, isolation source). Once defined, the filter appears on the top and you may still change the middle operator (e.g. “is after” or “contains”) to refine your query. You can also add additional filters and choose if the query should Match all filters (equivalent to AND) or Match any filter (equivalent to OR).

You may also define more complex queries with parenthesis and any combination of AND/OR operations by selecting the Filter and then .

Save a new View

Queries can be saved as personal Views by clicking on . The saved View also includes the current Chart. Give the new View a title and description (optional). The newly created View will appear as a tab on the top of View data, as well as under My views on the left sidebar.

Chart panel

The top half of the screen displays a bar chart showing the number of isolates grouped by isolation date (month).

Chart controls on the right allow customization:

  • Chart type: Choose between different visualizations (bar, stacked bar).

  • Measure: Select which field to use for stratification/counting (e.g. isolation source)

  • Slice: Change the variable on the x-axis (e.g. submission date). In some cases, you will be able to specify the binning (e.g. group dates by year/month/week) by clicking on , see a few examples below:
