Dashboard
Data overview
After selecting a data category (e.g., SARS-CoV-2 under “Viruses”), users are directed to an interactive dashboard displaying publicly available pathogen data.
Each dashboard is structured to provide a rich overview of available sequencing data, including sample metadata and visual summaries.

Search and navigation
Navigation tools
-
Virus and sample category selection: Choose from categories such as SARS-CoV-2, Influenza-RSV, or Wastewater.
-
Sample attributes panel: You can control which columns appear in the Sample Data Table by selecting or deselecting sample attributes. This allows you to focus on the information relevant to your analysis (i.e. strain name, Batch submission date or reporting lab name)
-
Statistics summary: Provides key context by displaying for example the total number of samples and the date of the last submission for the current dataset. This information is updated weekly, giving users an up-to-date snapshot of data coverage and submission activity.
Filter Options
Users can apply filters to refine results shown in the Sample Data Table, including collection date, geographic region or external identifiers, among other features. Adjust the number of rows per page and navigate between pages using the controls located below the Sample Data Table.
Filters update the table in real time, helping users isolate specific trends or subsets.
Timeline graph: Weekly submissions
A timeline graph provides an overview of the number of sample submissions over time. This visual allows users to quickly understand trends, surges, or declines in pathogen sequencing activity.
This graph helps track epidemiological activity and data coverage over time, highlighting periods of high sequencing throughput or low submission activity.
Features of the Timeline Graph:
- X-Axis: Displays time, typically grouped by week (e.g., July ’21 to 2025).
- Y-Axis: Shows the total number of samples submitted each week.
- Dynamic Scaling: Zoom in/out or pan across the timeline using the toolbar.
- Hover Tooltips: Hovering over bars reveals exact submission counts per week.

Export Data
Users can export data in various formats for offline analysis, visualization, or integration of SPSP data into their own workflows.
- Timeline Graph: Click the export icon
in the top-right corner of the graph area to download the timeline in SVG, PNG, or CSV format.
- Sample Data Table: Click the Download button to export the filtered samples as a CSV file. The export reflects the currently applied filters and the selected columns.
⚠️ Note: Only the currently displayed subset (according to filters and attributes selected) will be exported. If you want the full dataset, reset filters or adjust the sample attribute panel.
